Young people at a drum workshop in Naniwa, Japan. They are part of a buraku cultural group
Beneath the surface of modern, homogenous Japan, festers an ancient prejudice against a minority who can be distinguished from the rest of the population only by genealogical detectives. The buraku people are descendents of the Eta people and traditionally carried out so-called impure jobs like butchery and tanning. The victims of this ancient prejudice are fighting back. These kids are part of a buraku drum group called Ikari, meaning 'anger'.
