The battery is alsovaluable in other ways, as in case of a mishap necessitating tem-porary generator shutdowns. At times it is also desirable to run acar for some special occasion very late at night, when the genera-tors are shut down, and by throwing on the battery the necessarycurrent is then immediately available. BOILER ROOM a detached brick building a short distance from the power storage battery booster mentioned in connection with the equip-ment of the old station is utilized in the new plant, where it is drivenby direct connection to a Westinghouse, 30-hp, 550-volt, direct-cur-rent motor.
