Sand sedge is stabilizing the inland dune in Wilderness Jüterbog in Northeastern Germany.
In Wilderness Jüterbog after more than 150 years as a military training area since 1992 in one of the rare Steppe landscapes in Germany nature rules. As a relict of the recent Ice Age an 900 meter long Inland Dune is still moving there, while sand sedge starts to stabilize the moving sand. Nach mehr als 150 Jahren als Truppenübungsplatz bleibt eine der extrem seltenen Steppenlandschaften in Deutschland im Wildnisgebiet Jüterbog seit 1992 sich selbst überlassen. Aus der letzten Eiszeit gibt es hier noch eine Binnendüne, die noch in Bewegung ist. Die Sandsegge beginnt allerdings bereits, diese Düne zu stabilisieren.
