These rails were placed to theproper grade, so that it was necessary only to set theyokes to line. The new work, also supported by the 6-in. x INSTALLATION. AT TOP, RIGHT, EXCAVATION IN STREET)TTOM, LEFT, NEW SPECIAL TRACKWORK COMPLETELYiVORK COMPLETED, INCLUDING PAVING 5 , it may readily be seen that the installation ofthe outside curve was quite an undertaking for onenight. This was necessary, however, because of therelocation of this curve, as mentioned before. But dueto the splitting up of the gangs and their distributionover the entire curve no difficulty was experienced andthe first car went over on schedule time, three hours andthirty-seven minutes after the removal of the oldspecial trackwork was started. Car traffic was not de-layed at any time during the progress of the job, withthe exception of two or three minutes delay due tostopping of cars on cut-outs. Night work was greatly facilitated by the preliminarysurvey work of the companys engineers. Every yokeand gusset was tied out by offset nails in the asphalt timbers placed under the wheel rails, was surfaced andlined as quickly as possible after installation
