First held in Manchester over 200 years ago in 1801, these were held to encourage community activity over the Whit holiday break. Manchester had the largest Whit Walks but other Whit Walks were popular especially in northwest England. Whit Walks in Manchester now takes place on the Spring Bank Holiday Monday.
