Manicouagan reservoir, Quebec, Canada, from Earth orbit. The reservoir water (dark blue) fills an old impact crater, some 100 kilometres across. The crater was the result of a meteorite impact some 212 million years ago. The reservoir is drained by the Manicouagan river (upper centre). Land (green) and clouds (white) are also seen.
