The only fault we can find is that it has not, with us, the perpetual flowering habit expected in a hybrid-tea Rose; but when one realizes the brilliant gorgeous display of flowers which it furnishes during June, equalled by no other high-colored variety, this one point can be overlooked: "A majestic Rose whose imperious size, contour, color, and rare perfume (rich syrupy-rose-tea)— each the last word in what a Rose should be—at once stamp it as a perfect Rose and a Rose without compeer. We, with no little pride, issue it as the best Exhibition Rose ever raised by us. It is a Rose that is always there, let the weather be what it may. Its vigorous growth, its thick leathery beech-green cordate foliage, bespeak rare constitution; produces huge blooms quite five inches across. It never blues, browns, or seals, and its huge leathery shell- shaped petals have'Wonderful lastingquali- lies, and are symmetrically arranged in the much-to-be-desired globular type. The color is velvety black scarlft-crimson with brilliant scarlet reflexed tips, with heavy and uniquely pure crim- son-maroon veining on the reverse. The blooms open ; Awarded Gold Medal, National Rose So- ciety of England. $ each. General Superior Arnold JanSSen (Leenders). A deep glowing carmine; a very elTective color, with long finely formed buds, the open flowers full and sweet. A splendid bedding Rose, and a fine long-stemmed cut flower. $ each.
