It is not by anymeans so easy as it looks, and if one is not verycareful the half-baked bannock is liable to landon the ground ! The resulting bread, when well made, is delicious, but baking-powder bread is heavy at the best andit is always a relief to get back to yeast breadagain after a trip in the bush. The baking-powderitself, too, is injurious in the long run, and a mancannot live on it for very long without getting hisinternal arrangements knocked up. * * * * * From this camp we make several excursions toexamine the country, and then proceed farther.
