Mr. Griggs suggested that there be a special meeting ofthe Board of Trustees at Amherst prior to the formulation of thebudget by the College Administration to establish budget policiesand principles. The first matter was the proposal to lease a millingmachine used at the Power Plant of the College to the Boston WireStitcher Company of East Greenwich, Rhode Island, at the request ofthe Hartford Ordnance District of the War Department and as asassistance in the nations war effort. The relative desirabilityof leasing or selling was considered. The Treasurer presented a proposed form of lease covering period of the war at rental rate of $50 per year.
