Straightened neck curvature. Coloured lateral X-ray of a human head and neck, showing the cervical spine in a case of straightened neck curvature. The front of the head is at left. The spinal cord, enclosed by the vertebrae, is highlighted in red within the backbone. The normal neck curvature is called cervical lordosis, and this abnormal straightening of the neck is called loss of cervical lordosis. This can be caused by injury or excessive looking down at mobile phones. Traction or physiotherapy can restore normal curvature.
