It closely resembles olivaceus, but the mider parts are j'ellow, brighter perhaps, at least on the axillars and crissum, than olivaceus ever becomes, even in the fall. i Brotlterly-love Vireo. Above dull olive-green, brightening on the rump, fading insensibly into ashy on the crown, which is not bordered with blackish ; a dull white superciliary line ; below, palest possible yellowish, whitening on throat and belly, slightly olive-shaded on sides ; sometimes a slight creamjr or buffy shade throughout the imder parts ; no obvious wing-bars ; no spuri- ous quill. About 5 long; wing 2|; tail 2J ; bill hardly or al)out J ; tarsus §. Eastern North America; a small, plainly colored species, almost indistin- guishable from gilvus except by absence of spurious quill; not very common. Cass., Proc. Acad.
