Electrostatic generator. 18th-century illustration depicting the large electrostatic generator designed by Dutch physician and inventor Martin van Marum (1750-1837), built by John Cuthbertson in 1784 for the Teylers Museum in Haarlem, the Netherlands. Illustration published in van Marum's 'Beschreibung einer ungemein grossen Elektrisier-Maschine' (1786-1798).
