NORFOLK, Va. (March 1, 2017) Commander, Amphibious Squadron 8 (PHIBRON 8), Capt. Larry LeGree, speaks with media before the amphibious assault ship USS Bataan's (LHD 5) departs from Naval Station Norfolk as part of a scheduled deployment. PHIBRON 8 is part of the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group (BATARG) deployment in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in Europe and the Middle East. BATARG also includes the USS Bataan (LHD 5), USS Mesa Verde (LPD 19), USS Carter Hall (LSD 50) and 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit.
