In Frutal in the state of Minas Gerais, a prison without weapons or guards, run by the Association for Protection and Assistance of Convicts (APAC) — a Christian organization — returns dignity to young inmates between 14 and 17 years old. The method seeks to make teenagers more responsible by imposing strict timetables and compulsory religious observance. The experience is an exception in the Brazilian prison system. All photos have been anonymized in the interest of the detained minors.
