Eyes very large, hemispherical, their inner faces flat and contiguous, the carinae covering nearly all the outer face. Antennules rather slender ; the scale at base is small, falcate, andacuminate, the second segment about oneand a half times as long as the third ; theflagella both exceed the antennal scale, the inner is only a little longer than theouter. The antennae have a slender spineat the outer base of the scale, which isnarrow-oblong and about three fourths as., long as the carapace (rostrum excluded) ; FIG. 66. Crangon abyssorum. S (X 2). The maxillipeds are slender and exceed the scale by nearly half thelength of the terminal segment. The first pair of feet do not reach theend of the scale. The merus has a small superior terminal spine. Themanus widens a little distally ; its length is three times its width measuredat the inner base of the spine ; the dactylus is more longitudinal thantransverse. The second and third pairs of feet are equally filiform anddelicate ; the second reaches to the middle or beyond the middle of thepalm of the first ; the third reaches beyond the antennal scale ; the fourthpair also exceeds the scale ; the fifth pair is a little shorter. In the malethe sternum has a median carina with a small spine on each segment. The fifth segment of the abdomen has a l
