The United Flower & Supply Co. states that the great heat in the south and portions of the middle west has had .•I most stimulating effect on the trade in California strawflowers. Domoto Bros, are beginning to ship their asters and are busy drying straw- flowers. Lilium rubrum is now coming from their nurseries. Knonioto & Co., Inc., have plenty of Ciolden Glow chrysanthemums coming from the nurseries, but they will not start shipping mums till September 1, when their Monrovia mums will be in. Tiiey say that the asters are now of ex- cellent shipping quality. The Growers' Floral Co., according to Yukichi Noda, is making a specialty of strawflowers, which are popular at l)resent. Mr. Noda says the company is ship])ing asters which are of good stock. Miss Dolores Howard, who has been for some months on the staff of Joseph's, has gone to her home at Minneapolis for a rest and vacation. Pelicano, Rossi & Co. had the decora- tions for the national conclave of the Ivnights of Columbus, held in this city during the first week in August. Gla- •lioli and dahlias were used, and the decorations were much admired by the Knights and their friends, who came here in great numbers.
