This vegetable is extensively grown for its green pods, which are used in soups, stews, etc., to which they impart a rich flavor and are considered nutritious. Sow the seed thickly in rich ground about the middle of May, or when the ground has become warm, in drills 3 feet apart and 1 inch deep; thin out to 10 inches apart in the drills. Hoe often, and earth up a little to support the stems. The very young pods can be gathered and dried for winter use. Improved Dwarf Green. A very desirable sort for market gardeners, as it is very pro- ductive, bears long pods, which remain tender a long time and are free from hard ridges. They are borne profusely, and retain their tenderness till of good size. Pkt. 5 cts., oz. 15 cts., I lb. 30 cts., lb. $ IVhite Creole {Syn. White Velvet). This variety is largely grown in the South, and is preferred by many to the green-podded sorts, as it is considered to be more tender and of better flavor. The pods are perfectly round, free from ridges, and are soft and velvety to the touch. They are of unusual size, and of a creamy white color. Pkt. 5 cts., oz. 15 cts., \ lb. 30 cts., lb. $ PARSLEY. Petersilie, Ger. Persil, Fr. Peregil, Sp. One ounce will sow 150 feet of drill. Used for garnishing and seasoning soups, meats, etc. Suc- ceeds best in a mellow, rich soil. Sow thickly early in April, in rows 1 foot apart and \ inch deep; thin out the plants to stand 6 inches apart in the rows. The seed
