Adult. Similar to M. anais, but with more of an oily-greeu gloss, especially on the throat; the orange colour everywhere deeper and more brilliant; the entire head brilliant orange, with a patch of greenish black on the nai)e; ear-coverts greenish black with a few yellow feathers intermixed : " bill and feet pale yellow ; iris yellow " {UAlhertis). Total length lU inches, culmen 0'9, wing 5-8, tail 2'95, tarsus 1' Tounfj. Similar to the adults but the orange paler, and mottled with blackish bases to the feathers of the fore neck ; many of the greenish-black feathers of the breast tipped with yellowish margins. Hah.
