Genus METAPTYA. Type. Metaptya, Hmpsn. Moths Ind. iv. p. 522 (1896) scncca. Proboscis fully developed; palpi upturned, the 2iid joint reaching to about vertex of head and slenderly scaled, the 3rd moderate ; irons smooth ; eyes large, round; antenna of male ciliated; thorax clothed almost entirely with scales, the nietathorax with dorsal ridge-like crest; tibi;e slightly fringed with hair ; abdomen with dorsal crests on basal segments, the crest on 2nd segment large. Fore wing with the apex produced and acute, the termen scmiewhat excised below apex and excurved at middle ; veins 3 and 5 from near angle of cell; 6 Irom upper angle ; 9 and Itl anastomosing with 8 to form the areole ; 11 from cell, liind wing with veins 3, 4 from angle of cell ; 5 fully developed from just above angle; 6, 7 from upper angle; 8 anastomosing with the ceil near base only; the tornus with a large fan of scales.
