Quay ships Floor-mats "Water reflexion" buoy floating seamark anchored boats Garonne river submarine base morning Built in 1941 by the German Navy to protect the U-Boat submarines of the 12th flotilla, the submarine base was turned into a cultural tourist centre with an especially original side to it. Two main areas are allocated for visits, one of which covers the submarine construction history of the base, and the other of which is more concerned with the passion of people in the region for pleasure cruising over the last two centuries. All of which has been designed in an eye-catchingly unusual fashion, creating a semi-real, semi-imaginary feel to the place.
