Thesemi-jubilee of Dr Macphails settlement atPilrig was the occasion of a pleasant gather-ing in December 1893, when a cordial meetingof the congregation was presided over by MrWarrack. An illuminated address, a chequefor £90, and other gifts, proved the peoplestrust in their minister. The next year it was Mr Warracks ownturn, when on the occasion of his jubilee asan elder he was an honoured guest at thefiftieth annual meeting, and received ahandsomely decorated address. Dr Macphails jubilee of service was markedon 28th November 1899 by a large gatheringin the church. The Presbytery also honouredhim at a conversazione in the Church Offices;and many beautiful addresses and presentswere showered upon the venerable Doctor,from friends old and new. The golden wedding of Dr Macphail andthe ministerial semi-jubilee of Mr Macaulayhave already been noted. And now the jubilee of our entering intopossession of our present beautiful house callson us to review our position as a branchof the Church militant, and to increase ourindividual energies in the determination touphold the ancient traditions and usefulnessthat have glorified our present tabernacle forhalf a century, and that have been the herit-age of our Pilrig Church for threescore yearsand ten; for The Night cometh, whe
