Apollo 16 view of part of the nearside of the Moon. In the foreground the dark area is part of the Mare Crisium & the view is southwesterly into the Mare Tranquillitatis. The conspicuous bright rayed crater (photo off centre) between the two seas is called Proclus. On the left centre edge, the lighter circular area is the crater of Taruntius. This is situated in the NE corner of the Mare Fecunditatis. The Mare Serenitatis is just visible on the horizon (photo upper right).
