La Recouvrance is a schooner in (harbor of Brest,) a replica which was launched in Brest in 1992. La Recouvrance is a topsail schooner, a replica of the schooners such as "Iris", a model designed by naval architect Hubert in 1817. These were military vessels for the transport of urgent mail, monitoring commercial traffic and suppression of the slave trade on the coasts of Africa and the Caribbean. They were six of 24 carronades and crew consisted of from 50 to 60 men.
