Costume of Avranches. She wears a bonnet with a larger top than we have seen previously, and with the papillon wings flying away from the cheeks as seen at Coutances. Hand-colored fashion plate illustration by Lante engraved by Gatine from Louis-Marie Lante's "Costumes des femmes du Pays de Caux," 1827/1885. With their tall Alsation lace hats, the women of Caux and Normandy were famous for the elegance and style.
