The fruit is borne in clusters, reddish purple in color, changing to bluish black, In flavor it is of a mild, rich subacid, excellent as a dessert fruit or canned. It is extremely hardy, enduring the cold of the far North and the heat of summer without injury. In habit it is similar to the currant, the bushes attaining the same size, and are literally covered with fruit in June. The blossoms are quite large, are composed of fine white petals, which, wiih its bright, glossy, dark green foliage, renders it one of the handsomest ornamental shrubs. PRICE—25c. each; $ per 10. ELEAGNUS LONGIPES A handsome, shapely, silver leaved shrub, with ornamental reddish brown bark in winter; perfectly hardy and easy to grow. Bright yellow flowers in June on long stalks, but the greatest value of the shrub is in the fruit, which is edible and produced in the greatest abundance along the whole length of the branches, oval in shape and about one-half inch long; color, deep orange red, very showy and attractive.
