The closing months of his ministerial life were overshadowedand darkened by the great calamity which befell the town ofMilton and his congregation, by reason of the great conflagra-tion which swept over the town, and their pleasant homes andhouse of worship and reduced them all to ashes. On the daybefore his death he left his home in Milton to visit some rela-tives and stopped in Philadelphia to attend the funeral of aformer member of his congregation.
