One of the most striking examples of a road built onprivate right of way is theStark Electric Railway inOhio. The line extends fromCanton to Salem, a distanceof about 37 miles, touchingLouisville, Alliance, Sebring,Beloit and several smallertowns. At present the inter-urban cars traverse less than4 miles of city or villagestreets, and in the near fu-ture, by means of a cut-offaround the center of Alliance,the street trackage will bereduced to less than half amile for the through cars.
