Spectators flee as waves on a rogue tidal surge break over the sea wall in Lowestoft near North Deanes Caravan Park, on Friday Dec 6, 2013. A combination of high tides and the worst tidal surge in 60 years has been causing flooding and evacuation across the east of England - Lowestoft is the most easterly point of the UK. Much of the east coast of Britain is under threat of severe erosion from the sea which is encroaching ever further inland. From the current concrete sea wall (on a calmer day and lower tide) you can look out to sea and view the remains of earlier sea walls that have been lost to the ravages of the water.
