A stray wild black swan in Whitby harbour, North Yorkshire, UK. in the 1980's. Its believed to be an escapee or young of an escapee from a British zoo or animal sanctuary. The black swan is also very popular as an ornamental water bird in western Europe, especially Britain, Escapees are commonly but numerous enough to be admitted to the official British List
