Homotherium sabre-toothed cat. Artwork showing the skull and muscle anatomy of the head of a Homotherium latidens sabre-toothed cat. The sabre-toothed cats were prehistoric predatory mammals that had long, curved canine teeth. They existed between 42 million and 7 million years ago. The Homotherium latidens sabre-toothed cat was found in Eurasia during the Pliocene and Pleistocene, from around 5 million years ago to 30,000 years ago.
