He leaned heavily on his stick, and now and then also supported himself by the arm of Wilfred the Broad, who walked beside him. The man kept stopping and looking at the Chaplain, as if he momentarily expected him to fall. He had been in the very thick of the fight, wearing armour that had concealed him, and had received a wound in the neck. But he had, though ceasing to fight, and while getting rid of his armour, declared it to be trifling, and refused to wait and return with the barges.
