About 100 clock Sunday morning the columns and deployedlines were formed by General Newton for storming the heights. Thecolumn on the extreme right was composed of the Sixty-first Pennsyl-vania and Forty-third New York, of the Light Brigade, under thecommand of Colonel Spear, and was supported by the Eighty-second. Upon the opening of Newtons batteries both columns debouchedfrom under cover, and the deployed lines advanced to the column on the right was enfiladed by batteries stationed in theroad at the top of the hill and in the works on each side of the road ;rifle pits at the base of the hill also confronted him.
