A wheellock puffer, Southern German, circa 1580. Two-stage barrel, octagonal becoming round with a slightly swamped muzzle and a smooth bore in 14 mm calibre. The barrel maker's mark, a lion and arrow, along with "HR" is stamped on the chamber. The lock fitted with a covered exterior wheel, spring-loaded pan cover, and safety lever. Walnut stock richly inlaid with bone, some pieces engraved. Wooden ramrod with iron tip. Forearm broken on the left side and a few of the point inlays on the bottom of the stock are replacements.
