Bone disease. Frontal X-ray of the right thigh bone (femur) of a 60 year old woman, which is suggestive of Erdheim-Chester disease. This is a rare disease where there is an abnormal multiplication of histiocytes, a type of white blood cell. It can present with bone pain, visual field loss and pituitary failure. Prognosis is approximately two years from diagnosis. Treatment options include chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
