Seroxat (paroxetine) molecule. Paroxetine is an antidepressant drug of the SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor) class, which also includes Prozac (fluoxetine). It is widely prescribed to treat anxiety, depression and obsessive-complusive disorder. However, there are fears that it is overprescribed, being given to people who have no need for such a powerful drug. Its use in children has been banned in the UK since 2003, due to fears that it increased the risk of suicide. Research in 2005 has indicated that the same may also be true for adults. In this molecule, carbon atoms are pale green, hydrogen is white, fluorine pink, nitrogen dark green, and oxygen blue.
