PACIFIC OCEAN (June 5, 2017) Gunner’s Mate 2nd Class Deion Mahone, from Indianapolis, fires a flare gun during a live-fire exercise in the western Pacific aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70). The Navy has patrolled the Indo-Asia-Pacific routinely for more than 70 years promoting regional peace and security.
