A man has been airlifted to hospital after being shot by a weapon on the Tilehurst Road side of the park. Witnesses have reported a large police presents in and around the area of where the incident happened and the air ambulance landing at the centre of the park. Reading,Berkshire Monday 30th May 2016 Police launch investigation after a man has been shot at Prospect Park in Reading this evening. A man has been airlifted to hospital after being shot by a weapon on the Tilehurst Road side of the park. Witnesses have reported a large police presents in and around the area of where the incident happened and the air ambulance landing at the centre of the park. Police were called to Prospect Park at around 8pm today after reports that a man had been shot. The victim, a 23 year-old man, was located at the scene with a gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital by air ambulance and is currently in a stable condition. Local Policing Area Commander for Reading, Supt Stan Gilmour said: “I would like to reassure the public that this attack appears to have been targeted against an individual and does not represent a threat to the community. “A thorough investigation is being carried out, which means there will be an increased police presence in the area in the coming days. If you have any concerns or information to pass on then please approach one of our officers. “Tilehurst road remains closed at this time. We would like to thank the public for their co-operation.” Investigating officer, Det Insp Jon Groenen, of Force CID, based at Reading police station said: "I would like to appeal to anyone who witnessed this offence or has any information to contact police. “If you do not want to speak directly to the police you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.” @UKNIP
