A 9 year old boy poses for a portrait in front of a wall with pock marks made by bullets fired by Khmer Rouge soldiers at Wat Bangkok in Kampong Cham, Cambodia. The Wat Bangkok complex was once the site where monks from all parts of Cambodia came to study an advanced curriculum including math and science. During the Pol Pot regime (1975-1979) this building, built roughly fifty years ago, served as the education building and was streffed with bullets and rocket propelled grenades. Today this structure serves as a dwelling for dozens of monks but the pock marked walls remain.
