A turnto the left is now taken, and thescenery entirely changes in charac-ter. Humphreys ledge is nowascended. To the eastward are seen,clean cut, the two road gaps throughThorn hill, while low down, hun-dreds of feet beneath the steep decliv-ity of the ledge, the Saco roars inrapid tumult and for cause.
