Map of Australia. 19th-century map of Australia and the surrounding regions, labelled in French. Australia is here named New Holland. The inset at upper left shows New South Wales. The entire coastline has been mapped. The inset at bottom shows the sub-Antarctic island groups of Macquarie Island, the Auckland Islands, and Campbell Island. New Zealand is at lower right. New Guinea and other islands of the Malay Archipelago and Polynesia are across top, with labels for the Molucca Sea and the Coral Sea. Titled 'Carte de l'Australie', this map was published in 1826 by French geographer Adrien-Hubert Brue (1786-1832).
