The exhibition of roses and strawberries scheduled for June 26 and 27 was almost a minus quantity, there being but two exhibitors of roses and one of strawberries, the date being eight or ten days too early for each. There was, however, a won- derful display of peonies. The most notable, from T. C. Thurlow's Sons Co., filled half the main exhibition hall and contained over 200 named varie- ties, charmingly arranged, and received the rare distinction of a gold medal. About every standard, new and annual variety was represented in this fine dis- play. There was a good contest in the classes for twelve specimens each of named varieties, of white, pink, salmon and red colors, T. C. Thurlow's Sons Co., Arthur H. Fewkes and Mrs. J. McKissock bein^ the leading prize- winners. Fine miscellaneous displays came from Messrs. Fewkes, Chase and others. The Blue Hill Nurseries won no less than three
