Can you tell us what pipe will be neces- sary to extend the arrangement already in operation into the third house and whether or not the main flow and return pipes will have to be changed? As nearly as can be estimated from the above statement, about 1,200 square feet of radiation are now in use, including the main flow and return pipe. Accept- ing the figuros given as trustworthy, it would be inadvisable to add much more radiation if soft coal is to be used, but it would be reasonably safe to add from 400 to 500 additional feet to the system with hard coal as the fuel. The house which it is proposed to build will require not far from 800 square feet of hot water radiation if 55 degrees is to be maintained. This would still be below the rating of the boiler and, presuming thit the rating is cor- rect, it is possible that the temperatures desired could be maintained in the three houses if the outside temperature does not drop below zero, if careful attention is given to the firing and liard coal is used. , Eun a separate 4-inch main to the new house, with a return of the same size, if this can be don
