This image may not be used to state or imply ESA endorsement of any company or product Johannes Kepler ATV (automated transfer vehicle) launch. Ariane 5 rocket lifting-off. It is carrying the Johannes Kepler ATV, an unmanned spacecraft that is on a mission to supply propellant, water, air and dry cargo to the International Space Station (ISS). The ATV was launched on 23rd March 2012 and docked with the ISS on 24th February. On the 20th June, after being loaded with waste, it separated and de-orbited, burning up in the Earth's atmosphere.
