He graduated fromthe Academic Department of Yale in 1877, taking the De Forest prize, and then took up the study oflaw at the Yale Law School. Here also he wondistinction, and on his graduation in 1880, carriedoff the John A. Porter prize. He was admitted tothe Bar of Connecticut shortly after graduation, tothat of New York in 1882, and as an attorney inNew Jersey in February 1883. He was admittedas counsellor in the latter state in 1887, was ap-pointed Special Master in Chancery in 1896, andSupreme Court Commissioner in 1898. practised his profession in New YorkCity for some years after his admission to the. EDWIN B. GOODELL Bar of that state, but having considerable NewJersey business, opened an office at Montclair in1883, and of late has confined his practice to thelatter state. He was a School Trustee of Montclairfrom 1824 to 1894, was made a member of theBoard of Education in the latter year, and since1896 has served as its Chairman. He was one oftlie founders of the Montclair Club and is at presentits President, and is a member of the Yale Club andof the National .-^rts Club, both of New York. is not actively interested in politics.
