Lake Geneva, Switzerland, satellite image. North is at top. Lake Geneva is the largest natural freshwater lake in western Europe. The city of Geneva lies at the south-western end of the lake, where the lake flows back into the Rhone River (lower left). It is surrounded by two mountain chains, the Alps and the Jura.
