The water front at Tarbet, on the west shore of Loch Lomond, with mountains in the background.
This picturesque village is situated on the West shore of Loch Lomond this has been a popular tourist destination for many years. Queen Victoria described it as 'a small town' with 'splendid passes, richly wooded and the highest mountains rising behind'. Little has changed and today visitors can see what captivated those early travelers. It is just two miles from Arrochar, which sits at the top of Loch Long. Arrochar is surrounded by some of the most beautiful mountain peaks in Scotland a magnet for hill walkers of all skill levels. The peaks are often referred to as the Arrochar Alps.
