The old City Gate of Wanping City
The old City Gate of Wanping City (also called Wanping Castle) where on July 7, 1937, the first shots of the War of Resistance Against Japan rang out. Impacts of bullets and shells can still be seen in the stone walls of the fortress, which was first built in 1640 during the Ming dynasty to house military personnel in the southwest of Beijing. It now houses the Museum of China's War against Japan.
