Cast iron pier with a wooden decking. It extends 73m from a drawbridge in the west wall of Blackness Castle to a concrete pier in the Forth - a total distance of 79m. Erected in 1867-70 by the Government in order to transfer muntions from storage at the Castle to the fleet.
