A late 19th century view of a puntsman, on the River Severn at Gloucester, cathedral city and the county town of Gloucestershire in the South West of England. Gloucester Cathedral, towering above the city, originates in the foundation of an abbey dedicated to Saint Peter in 681 and is the burial place of King Edward II and Walter de Lacy.
