The Great Patriotic War Memorial in Vitebsk in Belarus, built during the Soviet era to commemorate the fallen in World War 2. At the base under the memorial an eternal flame flickers. Vitebsk is a city in Belarus near the border with Russia. In 2004 it had 340,000 inhabitants making it the country's fourth largest city.
